Funding

Arts Gateway MK (formerly The Milton Keynes Arts Association) has a long-established record for support and funding for artists in the MK area.  Arts Gateway MK gives grants three times a year – 1 February, 1 May and 1 October. There is £500 for individual artists, start-up groups and also guarantee against loss, and £1500 for established groups and organisations.

What we can fund

Arts Gateway MK distributes small arts grants on behalf of the Milton Keynes Council and the Milton Keynes Community Foundation


Here are some examples of what can be considered in your application:


start-up costs; admin costs; venue and rehearsal space hire; publicity and marketing; professional fees; grants towards exhibition costs; purchase of materials and equipment; short-course, training and workshop fees; artist-in-residence projects; special needs groups; guarantees against loss for events, local arts and community festivals.

Deepa Anand

Deepa Anand applied for funding to create a classical Odissi dance production ‘ Anjali - A Divine Offering’


Company MK – ‘Assassins’

Company MK came to us to ask for funding for a set of scenery steps – these are now happily housed at the Community Arts Resource Centre for anyone to hire!


Mark Niel

We funded Mark to attend an evening class course called “Poetry in the Making” at City Lit London


Festive Road

Festive Road applied for funding to create new costumes based on tea cups. Modelled here by the famous Concrete Cows!


Helen Casey-Green ‘Moonlight Sleeps’

Helen Casey-Green applied for funding to set up her Eye to Eye Collective Fine Arts and Crafts Exhibition


Anthony Hayes ‘Gallop’

Anthony Hayes applied for funding an art exhibition based on drawings and computer imagery about modern farming!


MK Music Service Schools Prom – Royal Albert Hall

Milton Keynes Music Service came to us for part-funding to take part in a Schools’ Prom at The Royal Albert Hall


Yaw Asiyama

We funded Yaw to develop a soundtrack in a studio for his one-man play 'Me, Marley and I'

What we can't fund

We are unable to fund full time formal/further education fees; loans; sponsorship; commercial ventures; travel costs; hospitality payments including accommodation costs; individuals or groups whose main residence or area of activity is outside the Milton Keynes boundary. We will not be able to consider applications for activities that have already taken place or paid for, or that will take place before a decision has been reached on an application.
